When is too old for newborn photos?

Meet Baby V. These images were taken at 5 weeks old... yes I said it ... 5 weeks old! So if you don't have your babies pictures taken within the first 14 days, don't sweat it! This is a time of adjustment and finding your new rhythm and sometimes that means taking your time. I offer studio newborn as well as lifestyle in-home sessions. The difference in these sessions will be covered in a later blog.

The term "newborn photos" typically refers to professional photographs taken of a baby within the first few weeks of life, usually during the first 14 days. During this time, newborns are more likely to sleep deeply, curl up easily into adorable poses, and have that quintessential "newborn" look. However, there's no hard and fast rule for when a baby is too old for newborn photos.

Babies grow and change rapidly during their first few months of life. As they get older, they become more alert, start to stretch out, and may not sleep as deeply or curl up as easily. While the first 2 weeks are often considered the prime time for capturing classic newborn images, I also specialize in capturing baby's early months, so it's still possible to get beautiful photos beyond that timeframe.

If you're interested in having newborn photos taken, be sure to contact me well in advance of your due date to discuss your preferences and availability. I can offer guidance on the best timing for the type of photos you want and may be able to accommodate older babies if you're looking for a different style of photography.

There is no strict cutoff for capturing the beauty of your baby through photography. While the first two weeks offer a classic window for traditional newborn photos, every stage of your baby's development is worth celebrating and documenting. At Hope Believe Photography in Evans, GA, I embrace the uniqueness of each stage and tailor our approach to create timeless and cherished memories for you and your family. If you're unsure about the best time for a session or have specific preferences, feel free to reach out. Here's to capturing the timeless moments of your baby's journey, no matter the age!
